Mobile Food Establishments
Mobile food units are defined as vehicle-mounted mobile food establishments, designed to be readily moveable.
An initial inspection must be performed after payment and prior to permit issuance.
“RESTRICTED MOBILE FOOD UNIT” is a vehicle that is restricted to selling only pre-packaged,
pre-labeled merchandise that was obtained from an approved source and/or from an approved inspected commissary.
“UNRESTRICTED MOBILE FOOD UNIT” is a vehicle-mounted food establishment that is readily
moveable.
Mobile Food Establishments Regulated by MONTGOMERY COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
The Montgomery County Environmental Health Services regulates any operation that stores, prepares, packages, serves, or otherwise provides sustenance for human consumption to the general public in Montgomery County, Texas.
TEXAS FOOD MANAGER CERTIFICATION
A certified food manager is required during all hours of operation. A state-approved certification must be provided at the time of inspection. In addition to a certified food manager, all other employees are required to have a food handler certification within 90 days of employment
Units must be mobile and remain readily movable at all times. To obtain a Mobile Food Unit Permit,
the MFU must be brought to the Montgomery County Environmental Health Services location on the designated day.
